The Magical Proposal

Well it’s fair to say that on the 18th of July, 2015 was by far the best day of my life.

The 6th of July was my boyfriend’s (but now fiancé’s) birthday. I surprised Mitchell with a birthday trip to Melbourne for four nights. Sooo excited to explore the victorian life as I have never left my home town state. Little did I know, that he had already planned to do the unexpected… TO PROPOSE!

On our way to the airport and just make check-in by literally a few minutes. Going through customs and what I didn’t know at the time was that the ring was hidden in his jacket which he saw on the tv’s as our belongings are going through the scanner. So convenient that I got pulled to the side to get bomb tested as this was happening, otherwise it may not have been the proposal he was going for.

THE MAGICAL DAY: They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so sharing a large “Wake Me Up” juice and a vegan snickers cupcake did the goods. Exploring by foot, up and down the hidden graffiti alleyways, viewing the old historic churches, eating burgers, having a win at the casino, watching the live footy and drinking mascato at a bar underneath bridges – Melbourne, you are perfect.

About 3 o’clock in the afternoon we decided to take a romantic walk through the botanical gardens. Holding hands and breathing in the crisp fresh air. Succulent flower gardens everywhere and massive trees three times older than I am. We begin to walk up a massive hill, almost both passing out and needing to catch our breath. Reaching the top we sat down and admired the picture perfect view, looking through the trees with the Melbourne CBD skyline in the background. He asks me to stand up so he can take some photos of me and the breathtaking backdrop. After a few to many snaps, I walked back over to him to warm my hands up in the pockets to his jacket… My body fills up with excitement and warmth as I felt a box. I knew what was going to happen but at the same time, I didn’t. He got down on one knee, opened it up and began to ask me those four little life changing words… After a few minutes of remaining speechless which then lead to screaming, and then giggling… I said YES!!!

Bittersweet emotions, we both didn’t know how to react! My phone died earlier during the day and I had none of my favourite girlfriend’s saved in Mitchell’s phone. Only calling my parents and my one sister, we ended telling the big news with a simple Facebook and Instagram post.

Everything about this day was absolutely perfect and I’m going to end this with one last sentence: My dreams are now my reality… IMG_7469

Much Love, K x
